On the guidelines of State Tax Commissioner Sonika, SIB took action against the iron steel firm under the leadership of Joint Commissioner Ajay Kumar.
The Special Investigation Branch (SIB) of the State Tax Department has taken action against the iron trading firm in Dehradun for GST theft.
In the preliminary investigation, the department has revealed GST theft of Rs 5 crore by making fake bills and taking advantage of ITC.
On the guidelines of State Tax Commissioner Sonika, SIB took action against the iron steel firm under the leadership of Joint Commissioner Ajay Kumar.
In the investigation, it was found that the benefit of Input Tax Credit (ITC) has been taken without supplying actual goods.
The supply of goods was shown by such vehicles, those vehicles did not pass through any toll plaza. On the date on which the e-way bill was made, the location of the goods vehicle was shown at another place.
Apart from this, 15 to 20 tonnes of goods were shown to be transported by e-rickshaw, car, three wheeler,
which is not possible.
Deputy Commissioner SIB Ajay Birathre said that the initial investigation has revealed that five crore ITC benefits were taken through fake bills.
In this, the firm has deposited 1.35 crore on the spot. Action is being taken by the department to recover the remaining amount.
The documents related to the tax returns and business of the firm are being investigated. Deputy Commissioner DR Chauhan, Yogesh Mishra, Suresh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Teeka Ram Chanyal and other officers were present in the action
