Dehradun: After the death of lion and other animals in the zoo located in Kanpur, UP, a bird flu alert has been issued in Moradabad. In such a situation, the Animal Husbandry Department has also increased vigilance in Doon.
Veterinarians have been instructed to do blood sampling in case of suspicion. However, no case of bird flu has been reported in the district yet. Poultry farms are also being monitored in the district. According to departmental officials, about 40 poultry farms are operating in Doon.
Each farm rears three to five thousand chickens. Bijnor, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar are the neighboring districts of the state. Therefore, there is a possibility of trade of chickens from here to the capital and other places.
In such a situation, vigilance has been increased in Doon. Advisory has been issued to 30 big veterinary hospitals and about 50 small dispensaries in Doon. Veterinarians have been asked to do blood sampling in case of any doubt and send it to Rishikesh laboratory. Let us tell you that large scale poultry farms are being operated in Doiwala, Raipur, Sahaspur and Vikasnagar.
Instructions for spraying insecticides at cow shelters
CVO Vidyasagar Kapri said that there is no case of bird flu in Doon. All doctors have been instructed by the department to do sampling in case of any doubt. They have been asked to spray insecticides and keep the poultry farms and cow shelters clean. The department is fully alert.
