Under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) scheme, 50 percent subsidy is being given for goat and sheep rearing. For this, the central government is giving a loan of 20 lakhs to 1 crore. Under which you can rear 100 to 500 goats / sheep.
The Government of India is constantly making tireless efforts to provide new opportunities for self-employment to farmers and youth in rural areas. Various projects are being run by the government under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) scheme. Through which financial assistance is provided to the animal keepers.
Additional Director Animal Husbandry Department Kumaon Division Dr. Ramesh Nitwal said that through the National Livestock Mission Scheme, the Central Government is running a scheme for sheep, goat and poultry farming to strengthen the economic condition of the animal keepers and promote animal husbandry. Under which subsidy of up to 50 percent is being provided. Through this scheme, those farmers who want to increase their income or want to start their own business, are given financial support and grants by the government.
How much loan is being given and how to apply: 20 lakh rupees for rearing 100 goats or sheep, 40 lakhs for 200 goats/sheep, 60 lakhs for 300 goats/sheep, 80 lakhs for 400 goats/sheep while a project of one crore rupees has been kept for 500 goats/sheep. He told that under the scheme, arrangements have also been made for marketing of goats and sheep of livestock farmers. Where livestock farmers can sell their production through the local cooperative society. Even the Uttarakhand government has signed a contract between ITBP and Indian Army under this scheme. Where animal breeders can sell their produce.
Necessary documents: The documents required to get a loan for goat rearing include the applicant’s Aadhar card, ration card, photocopy of electricity bill, goat farm project report, passport size photo and goat rearing experience certificate, among others.
