Dehradun: Green cess will be collected from vehicles coming to Uttarakhand after June 15. The Transport Headquarters has speeded up its preparations. After the selection of the company, the software has been prepared.
In the coming time, Green Cess will be automatically deducted from vehicles from outside states entering the border of Uttarakhand. Initially, there was a plan to collect it through Fastag but now Green Cess will be collected through Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras. This camera will recognize the number plate at the time of entry of the vehicle. Money will be deducted from the Fastag account on the basis of this number.
The Transport Headquarters has selected a company for this through the tender process. The software for collecting Green Cess has also been prepared. It is being linked to other related websites including the Center’s Transport. With the online collection of Green Cess, the government will get revenue from lakhs of vehicles entering the state. Apart from this, the government will also get better information about the vehicles entering the state border. Joint Transport Commissioner Sanat Kumar Singh said that there is a plan to start collecting Green Cess after June 15.
