Dehradun: Students will get five to ten percent discount in fares in long distance roadways buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. Its proposal will be brought in the upcoming board meeting.
In the recent meeting, the employee organizations had prominently raised the issue of decreasing trend of passengers due to higher fares of corporation buses compared to private buses. They had demanded that the fares of roadways buses be evaluated. The fares of corporation buses should be made competitive.
They had demanded a direct 10 percent reduction in passenger fares. While in long distance services, students had demanded a five to 10 percent discount in fares. The Transport Corporation management has clarified that a proposal in this regard will be brought in the upcoming board meeting.
Promotion increased on Red Bus, identification of pilgrimage sites will be visible on new buses
The Transport Corporation has also provided information about its online bus service on Red Bus. The 100 new buses that will come to the corporation will also be publicised in Garhwali and Kumaoni language or information about the pilgrimage and tourist places related to that bus service. The purpose is that the buses of the transport corporation can be operated according to the demand of the market.
Bus stations will be built at major pilgrimage places
The Transport Corporation is considering setting up new bus depots in the major pilgrimage places and border districts of the state. Work is also being done on a plan to increase long distance buses from hill stations to Delhi and other places.
