Uttarkashi: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered a high-level inquiry into the helicopter crash in Uttarkashi. He directed the officials to conduct a transparent investigation of the accident and provide the report to the government. So that the causes of the helicopter accident can be known.
The Chief Minister expressed grief over the accident and said, proper strategy and solid technical arrangements should be made to prevent helicopter accidents again in future. Instructed that all necessary improvements should be implemented soon by reviewing the safety standards in helicopter operations. Said that the safety of every tourist and local person including pilgrims is paramount for us.
Helicopter going to Gangotri crashes, six killed, one injured
A helicopter going to Gangotri Dham crashed near Gangani. In this incident, 6 people including five women died on the spot. At the same time, one person was seriously injured. He was sent to AIIMS Rishikesh by heli ambulance.
According to the information, seven people including the pilot took off from Kharsali to Harshil in a helicopter of a private company on Thursday morning. From there, the devotees had to go for Gangotri Dham Darshan. On reaching near Ganganai, the helicopter suddenly went out of control and fell into a 200 meter long ditch.
As soon as the information about the helicopter crash was received, the administration, police, SDRF and paramilitary along with the health and forest department team reached the spot and started the search and rescue operation. Five people died on the spot. While two people were seriously injured, one of them also died during the rescue. The remaining injured was sent to AIIMS Rishikesh for treatment through Sanjeevani Heli Service from the helipad located at Natin.
There were seven people including the pilot from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat in the helicopter. SP Sarita Dobal said that the cause of the accident will be known only through technical investigation. The injured have been sent to AIIMS for treatment and the bodies to the district hospital for post-mortem.
