Uttarkashi: Heavy machines will be airlifted on the lines of Kedarnath for the ongoing flood protection works in Yamunotri Dham. For this, a letter has been written to the Air Force by the district administration. The District Magistrate says that soon the Air Force will do reconnaissance and trial in the Dham through helicopter.
On the other hand, if this trial is successful, then heavy machines will be transported to Yamunotri Dham by Chinook. Due to the disaster in July 2024 in Yamunotri Dham, hot ponds, bathing ghats including the temple complex have been damaged. At the same time, parking etc. have also been damaged due to the increased water level of the river in areas like Janakichatti on the banks of Yamuna.
This year, the government has approved an amount of about 18 crores for protective and construction works in Yamunotri Dham. After that the irrigation department has started work there, but the problem is that it will take a long time to work there without machines. Because right now the laborers are doing the work of leveling etc.
Demand for help of cargo planes to transport heavy machines to Yamunotri Dham
On the instructions of the district administration, the irrigation department had tried to transport machines through the footpath of Yamunotri Dham, but it was not successful. At the same time, the officials of Yamunotri Temple Committee and the pilgrimage priests had demanded to get the work done by machines there.
On this, a letter has been written to the Air Force on behalf of District Magistrate Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht. He has sought the help of cargo planes to transport heavy machines to Yamunotri Dham. The DM said that the security of Yamunotri Dham is a long-term plan.
It is difficult to work there without machines. Now the construction of helipad in the Dham is also almost complete and the construction of the connecting road will also be started soon. Therefore, soon the Air Force helicopters will do a recce there. After that there will be a trial and if all this process is successful, then heavy machines will be airlifted to Yamunotri Dham by Chinook.
