Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan held a meeting with Education Department officials at the Secretariat and issued directives for the complete transformation of Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalayas, aiming to develop them into ‘Centers of Excellence.’
Key Directives:
• Society Model: The schools will operate under a ‘society’ model. A governing body, chaired by the Chief Secretary, will be established at the state level, while committees chaired by District Magistrates (DMs) will be formed at the district level. A legal framework will also be developed to govern their operations.
• Deployment of Teachers: There will be a transparent recruitment process for regular, dedicated teachers and permanent principals. Preference may be given to candidates with backgrounds in higher education and research. Until permanent appointments are made, the respective District Magistrates will put alternative arrangements in place.
• Time-bound Admissions: The admission process must be completed one month prior to the commencement of the new academic session.
• Facilities: To ensure the holistic development of students, all residential facilities—including quality education, sports, cultural activities, and access to emergency medical transport—will be provided entirely free of cost.
