Transport Secretary and Commissioner Mr. Ravinath Raman reviewed the operations of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established for running electric buses at the Dehradun RTO office today. During the visit, he inspected the electric charging stations currently under construction in Dehradun and Haridwar and issued strict instructions to the concerned agency to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.
Directives were issued during the meeting regarding the rationalization of bus routes for Dehradun and Haridwar; under this plan, 100 routes have been finalized for Dehradun and 37 for Haridwar. The primary objective is to focus more on shorter routes and increase bus frequency, thereby encouraging the general public to use public transport.
In the next phase of the inspection, the Secretary closely examined the operational procedures for vehicle registration on the ‘Vahan’ portal and the driving license process on the ‘Sarathi’ portal. He gave clear instructions to ensure that applicants visiting the office face no inconvenience and that basic amenities—such as drinking water and restroom facilities—are provided within the premises without fail.
Officials from the Smart City project and various departments were present during this high-level inspection, including Additional Transport Secretary Reena Joshi, Additional Transport Commissioner S.K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner Sunil Sharma, RTO (Administration) Sandeep Saini, RTO (Enforcement) Anita Chamola, GM (Roadways) Pawan Mehta, and ARTOs Chakrapani Mishra, Nikhil Sharma, and Neha Jha.
