Dehradun’s newly appointed District Magistrate, Dr. Ashish Chauhan, clarified his administrative priorities during a virtual meeting held with district-level officials on Monday. He emphasized that the administration’s primary focus would be on delivering results that align with public expectations, ensuring that the benefits of various schemes reach the last person in society. Should this fail to happen, accountability will be fixed upon the concerned officials.
The key directives issued during the meeting are as follows:
โข Good Governance and Monitoring: Strict instructions were issued to ensure regular field presence regarding departmental operations and to conduct continuous reviews of announcements made by the Chief Minister.
โข Safety and Awareness: Emphasis was placed on making public transport safer to ensure women’s security and on installing streetlights in sensitive areas. Directives were issued to conduct comprehensive awareness campaigns regarding POCSO, cybercrime, and the fight against drug abuse.
โข Road Safety and Land Mafia: Instructions were given to implement improvements in accident-prone zones and to take swift, strict action against land-related fraud and illegal encroachments.
โข Sanitation and Health: Emphasis was laid on ensuring visible improvements in the cleanliness of the city and water sources, curbing food adulteration, and conducting active case-hunting and awareness drives for dengue control.
โข Innovation: Officials were directed to formulate at least five new, significant projects in the public interest and to implement successful innovative initiatives within Dehradun.
All key officials, including Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah and the Additional District Magistrate, were present at the meeting.
