In Dehradun, Dr. Ashish Chauhan, a 2012-batch IAS officer, has assumed charge as the new District Magistrate (DM). The former DM, Savin Bansal, has been transferred to the Secretariat. Savin Bansal was accorded an emotional farewell as a “People’s Administrator,” a tribute to his exemplary work, such as the ‘Nanda-Sunanda’ initiative for girls and the rehabilitation of children engaged in begging.
After assuming charge on Monday, the newly appointed DM, Dr. Ashish Chauhan, outlined his priorities. He stated that his primary objectives would be to deliver public welfare schemes to the people in a transparent and time-bound manner, to strengthen the management of the Char Dham Yatra, and to accelerate disaster management operations.
Having previously served as the DM of Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi, and Pauri, Dr. Chauhan is renowned for his technology-driven and innovative work style. His notable achievements include the development of the ‘Safe Safar App’ for road safety in Pauri, the ‘Kavya App’ for monitoring high-risk pregnant women, and the construction of the 56-foot-tall ‘Trishul Park’ to promote tourism.
Now, the people of Dehradun, too, look forward to a responsive administration under his leadershipโone grounded in technology and public participation.
