Tightening its grip on illegal constructions, the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has carried out a major enforcement drive involving demolitions and sealing operations in Rishikesh and Vikasnagar. The Authority’s teams have taken strict action against structures being built without approved building plans and in violation of established regulations.
Key Highlights of the Enforcement Drive:
• Demolitions in Rishikesh: An illegal structure belonging to Nishant Malik, located on Lakkadghat Road (Sakshi Maharaj, Block-C), was demolished. Additionally, multi-storied illegal buildings constructed by the Guru Kripa Foundation, Narmada Singh, and Ajit Ram Bhatt in the Nirmal Bagh area were sealed.
• Sealing Operations in Vikasnagar: The Authority also sealed illegal commercial structures being constructed by Furqan at Herbertpur Chowk; by Hasan, located opposite Times World School; and by Surendra Singh in the main market area on Chakrata Road (Mandi Chowk).
Strict Warning from Officials:
MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari and Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya have made it clear that, in the interest of safe and planned urban development, illegal constructions will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This campaign to curb unplanned development will continue in the future. Citizens are urged to strictly adhere to regulations and obtain the necessary approval for their building plans from the Authority prior to commencing any construction work.
