In accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) process is set to commence in Uttarakhand on May 29, 2026. In this regard, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam, held a meeting at the Secretariat with representatives of recognized national political parties.
The CEO clarified that the primary objective of this campaign is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll and that no ineligible individual is included in it. This entire process will be conducted based on the qualifying date (Eligibility Date) of July 1, 2026. He appealed to the political parties to appoint 100% of their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) within the next two weeks. Currently, 22,000 BLAs have already been deployed across the state’s 11,733 polling booths. Information regarding the “Book a Call with BLO” initiative was also shared during the meeting.
Important Schedule of Events:
• June 8 – July 7, 2026: Door-to-door distribution and collection of enumeration forms by BLOs.
• July 14, 2026: Publication of the Draft Roll.
• July 14 – August 13, 2026: Period for filing claims and objections.
• September 15, 2026: Final publication of the electoral roll.
Present at this meeting were the Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande, along with representatives from the BJP, Congress, BSP, and CPI (M).
