The Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken strict cognizance of the alleged operation of illicit activities (a sex racket) within a kids’ play school in Dehradun. Dr. Geeta Khanna, the Chairperson of the Commission, has condemned the incident, terming it a grave assault on the education system and the moral fabric of society.
Key Directives Issued by the Commission:
The Commission has written to the District Magistrate of Dehradun, directing a time-bound inquiry into the matter and calling for strict action against the culprits. Additionally, a report has been sought regarding the following points:
โข Review of Safety Standards: The Chief Education Officer has been asked to submit a detailed report concerning the safety and surveillance standards applicable to schools under the New Education Policy.
โข Madrasa Board and Minority Education: Information has been sought regarding compliance with the directives issued following the dissolution of the Madrasa Board, as well as adherence to the standards set by the Minority Education Authority.
โข Inspection of Rented Premises: The Commission has directed a thorough inspection of schools operating out of rented buildings to prevent criminal activities and fraudulent practices from being carried out under the guise of educational institutions.
