Dr. Geeta Khanna, the Chairperson of the Commission, has condemned the incident, terming it a grave assault on the education system and the moral fabric of society.
Key Directives Issued by the Commission:
The Commission has written to the District Magistrate of Dehradun, directing a time-bound inquiry into the matter and calling for strict action against the culprits. Additionally, a report has been sought regarding the following points:
• Review of Safety Standards: The Chief Education Officer has been asked to submit a detailed report concerning the safety and surveillance standards applicable to schools under the New Education Policy.
• Madrasa Board and Minority Education: Information has been sought regarding compliance with the directives issued following the dissolution of the Madrasa Board, as well as adherence to the standards set by the Minority Education Authority.
• Inspection of Rented Premises: The Commission has directed a thorough inspection of schools operating out of rented buildings to prevent criminal activities and fraudulent practices from being carried out under the guise of educational institutions.
