As part of the ongoing drive against illegal constructions being conducted by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), a major enforcement action was undertaken in the Vikasnagar area, resulting in the sealing of an illegal commercial structure. Acting in accordance with established regulations, the Authority initiated sealing proceedings against a commercial building under construction by Gulshan—without the requisite approvals—located on Canal Bypass Road, Yamuna Vihar (near Guru Nanak Mission Public School) within the Authority’s jurisdiction.
**Construction Found to be in Violation of Prescribed Norms**
Upon reaching the site, the Authority’s team inspected the structure and found that the ongoing construction work was in direct violation of prescribed standards and the approved building plan. Consequently, acting under the provisions of the Uttarakhand Town and Country Planning and Development Act, the building was sealed.
**Illegal Construction Will Not Be Tolerated Under Any Circumstances – Banshidhar Tiwari**
Banshidhar Tiwari, Vice Chairman of the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority, stated that a rigorous campaign against illegal constructions within the MDDA’s jurisdiction remains continuously underway. He emphasized that commercial and residential constructions undertaken without approved building plans not only constitute a violation of regulations but also undermine the city’s planned development framework. He clarified that the Authority is actively identifying all such structures and initiating appropriate action in accordance with the law, adding that no negligence will be tolerated at any level. Appealing to the general public, he urged them to invariably obtain the necessary approvals from the Authority before commencing any building construction. Mr. Tiwari affirmed that the MDDA’s primary objective is not merely to take punitive action, but rather to ensure systematic and safe urban development. He assured that the campaign against illegal constructions would continue with even greater efficacy in the times to come.
**MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya Issues Stern Warning**
MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya stated that constant vigilance is being maintained regarding illegal constructions within the Authority’s jurisdiction. He affirmed that the sealing action executed in the Vikasnagar area was carried out strictly in accordance with regulations, and that stringent measures will continue to be taken against anyone undertaking construction without the requisite permissions. He added that the Authority’s teams are conducting regular inspections across various areas, and immediate action is being ensured wherever construction activities are found to be proceeding without approved building plans. He appealed to the citizens to adhere to the rules and complete the necessary statutory procedures.
The entire team, including the police force, remained present throughout the operation.
During the aforementioned operation, Assistant Engineer Shashank Saxena, Junior Engineer Amar Pal, supervisors, and the police force were present at the site. The Authority stated that the drive against illegal constructions would continue unabated in the future.
