Taking strict action against illegal constructions in the capital, the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) conducted a sealing drive at two key locations on Thursday. The Authority’s team identified structures being built in violation of regulations in the Patel Nagar (Saharanpur Road) and Dehrakhas areas and proceeded to seal them. The Authority has sent a clear message that construction undertaken without approval will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
In this same vein, action was taken against an illegal commercial construction project being carried out by Mani Garg on Patel Nagar (Saharanpur Road), resulting in its sealing. Similarly, an illegal residential construction project being undertaken by Vipin Kumar Verma in the Dehrakhas area was also sealed. During the inspection, it was discovered that both projects were being executed without approved building plans or the necessary permits—a direct violation of the Authority’s regulations. Consequently, Joint Secretary Pratyush Singh issued sealing orders in accordance with the established rules. Assistant Engineer Nishant Kukreti, Junior Engineer Jaideep Rana, and a team of supervisors were present during the operation. This action by the MDDA is being hailed as a significant step toward curbing the rising menace of illegal construction within the city.

He added that the Authority’s teams are maintaining constant vigilance, and immediate action is taken whenever reports of illegal construction are received. Tiwari appealed to the general public to ensure they obtain all necessary approvals before commencing any construction work. He warned that strict action against those who disregard the regulations will continue in the future, and the intensity of this campaign will be further increased.
**Such Actions Will Continue in the Future – Mohan Singh Barnia**
MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barnia affirmed that the Authority’s campaign against illegal constructions remains ongoing. He clarified that such actions will continue in the future as well, and no leniency whatsoever will be granted to those engaging in unauthorized construction. Such measures are absolutely essential for the planned development of the city, traffic management, and the strengthening of its infrastructure.
