The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has carried out sealing operations at various locations within its jurisdiction as part of a rigorous campaign against illegal constructions. These actions are being undertaken with the objective of curbing violations of the Authority’s regulations and ensuring planned development. The MDDA has clarified that any form of construction work or land subdivision (plotting) undertaken without prior approval is strictly illegal, and strict legal action will be initiated in such cases.
According to the information received, illegal construction was being carried out on an unauthorized land subdivision by Nafees, son of Mohammad Jameel, at Alic Nature Villa—near Icon Resort—on the Bagi Itharana Road in Bhogpur Ranipokhri, Dehradun. An Authority team visited the site for an inspection; upon finding the construction work to be in violation of regulations, they proceeded to seal the premises with immediate effect. Junior Engineers Deepak Nautiyal and Swati Kohli, along with the concerned supervisor, were present at the site during this operation.
Additionally, in the Raiwala-Rishikesh area, the Authority took action against shops illegally constructed by Preet Kumar located opposite Wood Resort, sealing the premises. During the inspection, it was discovered that the construction work had been undertaken without the requisite map approval, constituting a clear violation of the Authority’s regulations. Furthermore, action was taken against illegal construction carried out by Dinesh Mangai at Lane No. 6, Haripur Kalan, Rishikesh. This operation—including the sealing process—was completed in the presence of Assistant Engineer Abhishek Bhardwaj, a supervisor, and police personnel.
The MDDA is conducting this campaign on a continuous basis, identifying illegal constructions across various parts of its jurisdiction and taking prompt action against them. The Authority’s objective extends beyond merely halting illegal constructions; it also aims to foster organized and safe development within the city and its surrounding areas. To this end, regular inspections and surveillance are being conducted to ensure that any irregularities are detected and prevented in a timely manner. The MDDA has affirmed that such enforcement actions will be further intensified in the future, and strict vigilance will be maintained over illegal constructions to ensure organized and safe development throughout Dehradun and its surrounding regions. *Statement by Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari*
MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari stated that unauthorized construction within the Authority’s jurisdiction is unacceptable under any circumstances. He emphasized that undertaking plot subdivisions and construction work without prior approval not only constitutes a violation of regulations but also adversely impacts the planned development of the entire region. The Authority is maintaining constant vigilance, and immediate action is being taken wherever instances of unauthorized construction are reported. He appealed to the general public to strictly obtain map approvals before commencing any construction work, in order to avoid any future inconvenience or legal repercussions.

He urged the public to ensure that all construction activities are undertaken only after obtaining due approval from the Authority, thereby avoiding any punitive action
