The Election Commission has issued notices to the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of three districts regarding the sluggish pace of the ongoing BLO mapping exercise in the state, ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam has directed District Magistrates to formulate district-wise action plans for the SIR On Tuesday, Dr. Purushottam conducted a review meeting via video conferencing with the District Magistrates (DMs) of all districts in preparation for the SIR, which is scheduled for April. During the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer expressed strong displeasure regarding the low mapping progress in the districts of Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, and Nainital, and issued directives to serve notices to the respective EROs. He further instructed that separate action plans for the SIR be prepared for both urban and rural areas.
**Directives Issued to Continue BLO Training Uninterrupted**
During the meeting, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Purushottam informed that mapping for 87 percent of the voters in the state has already been completed. However, the progress of mapping remains low in Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, and Nainital. The Chief Electoral Officer stated that, in urban areas, officials and employees of the Municipal Corporations should be deployed for the SIR exercise. He issued specific instructions to ensure that the training of BLOs is conducted on a continuous basis.
He also directed all District Magistrates to hold meetings with political parties to ensure the appointment of 100 percent Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at every polling booth prior to the commencement of the SIR. He emphasized that all districts in the state must prepare a comprehensive plan for the distribution of enumeration forms to ensure that the distribution process is completed in a timely manner. The meeting was attended virtually by Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Kishan Singh Negi, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das, along with all the District Magistrates.
