After the completion of the Badrinath Master Plan, the Badrinath Authority will take over the responsibility for the maintenance of the town. Discussions regarding this have begun in the government. This system will be implemented in Badrinath on the lines of Kedarnath. Work on the Badrinath Master Plan is currently underway.
Work on the Badrinath Master Plan has been ongoing for the past four years. After the beautification of Badri Lake and Sheshnetra Lake, the Public Works Department PIU recommended handing over their maintenance to the Badrinath Nagar Panchayat (municipal council), but the Nagar Panchayat refused due to the heavy workload. This raised the question of who would be responsible for the maintenance after the completion of the Master Plan.
The government has decided to establish a separate authority for the maintenance of Badrinath after the completion of the Master Plan. The Badrinath Authority will be formed on the lines of the Kedarnath Authority and will oversee the beautification of Badrinath. It will also undertake construction work as needed.
District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar stated that the Badrinath Authority will be constituted on the lines of the Kedarnath Authority. After the completion of the Master Plan, the authority will be responsible for the conservation of Badrinath. Work in this regard is underway at the government level.
Rs. 150 crore spent on the Master Plan
Rs. 350 crore has been sanctioned for the Badrinath Master Plan, of which Rs. 150 crore has already been spent. Sheshnetra and Badri Lake, the loop road, and the arrival plaza have been completed in Badrinath. Construction of the hospital building, riverfront, two bridges, pilgrim priest residences, and beautification work in the 75-meter area around the Badrinath temple is ongoing.
