Amidst the religious frenzy surrounding the name controversy, the convoy of the Azad Samaj Party’s state president, who was coming to meet Deepak Kumar in Kotdwar, was stopped by the police at the Uttarakhand-Uttar Pradesh border. After much deliberation, only the state president was allowed to proceed to meet Deepak.
Azad Samaj Party Uttarakhand state president Mahak Singh arrived in Kotdwar on Friday with party workers to meet Deepak Kumar. Their convoy was stopped at the Kaudiya checkpost on the Uttarakhand-Uttar Pradesh border during a security check. Mahak Singh, along with other police officers from Pauri district, including ASP Chandramohan Singh, requested permission to meet Deepak Kumar for a brief conversation before returning. After considerable discussion, only Mahak Singh’s vehicle was allowed to enter Kotdwar.
Other vehicles carrying Bhim Army district in-charge and former village head Sabuddin, Sukvir Haldia (village head of Ranipur Nangla Gram Panchayat in Najibabad development block of Uttar Pradesh and Azad Samaj Party district vice-president), Shadman Sheikh (Azad Samaj Party Youth Wing district in-charge), and party worker Ayaz Ansari from Najibabad were stopped at the Kaudiya checkpost.
Meanwhile, upon receiving information that Azad Samaj Party (ASPA) state president Mahak Singh was coming to meet Deepak Kumar, a large number of young men from Kotdwar went directly to Deepak Kumar’s gym. Mahak Singh emphasized the importance of fulfilling one’s duty to humanity, rising above religion and caste. During this time, Deepak Kumar had a video call with ASPA national president and MP from Nagina parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Chandrashekhar. MP Chandrashekhar told him that he was supposed to come and meet him on Thursday but couldn’t due to some reasons.
