New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that he is not being allowed to speak in Parliament, and this is the first time in history that the Leader of the Opposition has been denied the opportunity to present his views.
Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is under immense pressure, and because of this, he has accepted the trade deal. He said that the deal will cause significant harm to Indian farmers and the agricultural sector.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that Modi is under pressure due to the Epstein files and the ongoing case against Adani in the US. He said that many facts from the Epstein files are yet to be revealed, which is why Modi is complying with the US; he is compromised in some way.
Rahul Gandhi said, “Modi ji is scared. The (US-India) trade agreement, which had been stalled for the past few months, was signed by Narendra Modi last night. He is under a lot of pressure. Narendra Modi’s image could be tarnished. The main point is that our Prime Minister’s image has been damaged. The public should think about this. For the first time, the Leader of the Opposition was not allowed to speak during the President’s address. Narendra Modi ji has sold your hard work in this trade agreement because his image has been damaged. He has sold out the country. Narendra Modi ji is scared because those who built his image are now destroying it… The case against Adani in the US is actually a case against Modi ji… There is much more in the Epstein files that the US has not yet released. This is also a source of pressure. These are the two main points of pressure. The country should understand this.”
Earlier, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that the government should take Parliament into confidence and the complete drafts of these agreements should be placed on the table of both Houses, and a comprehensive discussion should be held on them. Ramesh posted on X, “A year ago, Prime Minister Modi visited the White House to congratulate President Trump on his re-election. There, he put on a full display of his famous hug diplomacy. India-US relations had never seemed so promising.”
He continued, “Immediately afterward, negotiations for a trade deal began. But things started to go downhill after President Trump’s initial announcement on the evening of May 10, 2025, halting Operation Sindoor. Following this, President Trump hosted Field Marshal Asim Munir with great warmth, demonstrating closeness with Pakistan, which exposed the hollowness of Prime Minister Modi’s hug diplomacy.”
Ramesh added, “President Trump announced the trade agreement late Monday night, Indian time. From the information provided by President Trump, it is abundantly clear that Prime Minister Modi, as he did on May 10, 2025, has completely capitulated. He has certainly adopted a policy of appeasing President Trump.” He claimed that this unfortunate turn of events has damaged India’s reputation.
