Hyderabad: The results of the BMC elections 2026 have been declared. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has surpassed all other political parties in this election. Emerging as the largest party, the BJP thwarted the plans of the Thackeray brothers. It is worth noting that Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray contested the election together, but they failed to achieve any significant success. Following the party’s defeat, Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut attacked Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has now responded to this.
Sanjay Raut blamed Deputy CM Eknath Shinde for the defeat. Sharing a post on social media platform ‘X’, he wrote that if the state’s Deputy CM Eknath Shinde had not betrayed the party, the Bharatiya Janata Party would never have had a mayor in Mumbai. He compared Shinde to Jaychand, who is infamous for his betrayal. Raut said that Marathi people will always remember Eknath Shinde as Jaychand. Targeting the BJP, he further said that the party wins elections by creating ‘Jaychands’. Otherwise, the BJP’s strength is nothing. In every state, they break up parties and create ‘Jaychands’ to win elections. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey reacted to Raut’s statement. In a post shared on social media, he described Sanjay Raut as a combination of Narada Muni and Manthara. It is worth mentioning that this time the BJP has registered a massive victory in the BMC, which is considered the stronghold of the Thackeray brothers. The Mahayuti alliance won approximately 118 seats, securing 4 seats more than the required majority. The BJP won 89 seats and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena won 29 seats. A majority requires 114 seats, and the combined total of these two parties is 118 (89+29). The dispute between Sanjay Raut and Eknath Shinde is not a recent one. The conflict between them began in 2022 when Eknath Shinde, along with 39 Shiv Sena MLAs, joined hands with the BJP and formed a government in the state. The Uddhav Thackeray faction even called him a traitor for this.
