Under the National Health Mission (NHM) and the “You Quote, We Pay” model, the Health Department has acquired seven more specialist doctors. These specialist doctors have been posted to the Community Health Centers of Chaukhutia, Didihat, Bironkhal, and the Sub-District Hospital of Gairsain. The deployment of these specialist doctors will provide better healthcare facilities to patients visiting these hospitals and will also address the shortage of specialist doctors. Seven specialist doctors have been selected under the “You Quote, We Pay” model.
These include two anesthesiologists, two pediatricians, and three gynecologists. These specialist doctors, selected under a departmental contract, have been posted to medical units in various districts. Dr. R. Hemchandran (Anesthetist), Dr. Devika Khatri (Obstetrics and Gynecology), and Dr. Anant Gupta (Pediatrician) have been posted to the Community Health Center, Chaukhutia, Almora. Similarly, Dr. Vishal Pratap Singh (Anesthetist) and Dr. Shilpa Bhanudas (Obstetrics and Gynecology) have been posted to the Sub-District Hospital, Gairsain, Chamoli; Dr. Mamta Thapliyal (Obstetrics and Gynecology) to the Community Health Center, Bironkhal, Pauri; and Dr. Kishan Singh Mahar (Pediatrician) to the Community Health Center, Didihat, Pithoragarh.
The arrival of these specialist doctors will alleviate the shortage of specialists in these hospitals and provide better healthcare facilities to patients. Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that the state government’s primary objective is to ensure that citizens living in mountainous and border areas also have access to quality and specialized healthcare services at the local level. The government is continuously striving to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure under the National Health Mission. The selected specialist doctors will be paid a remuneration of a maximum of Rs. 3.50 lakh and a minimum of Rs. 2.89 lakh.
