The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) continues its strict campaign against illegal plotting and construction in the municipal area. To ensure the capital’s development is organized, safe, and consistent, the MDDA is conducting daily inspections and enforcement actions in various areas. Action is being taken against illegal colonizers and those who misuse land by circumventing regulations, to prevent future illegal and unorganized development in the municipal area. This MDDA campaign not only guides the planned development of the city but also ensures the interests and safety of ordinary citizens.
Major crackdown in several areas, including Vikas Nagar and Shimla Bypass
The MDDA team continued its crackdown today against illegal plotting in Vikas Nagar, Shimla Bypass, and surrounding rural areas within the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority area. The demolition of approximately 4-5 bighas of land owned by Madan Singh Negi on Horowala Road, Chharba, Dehradun. The team, including junior engineers Siddharth Semwal, Aman Pal, supervisors, and police personnel, were present on the scene.
Demolition of 20-bigha plots in Sherpur Selaqui
On Wednesday, decisive action was taken against large-scale illegal plotting in Sherpur Selaqui, Dehradun, within the authority’s jurisdiction. Unauthorized plotting on approximately 20 bighas of land by Naveen Gupta and others was demolished. Junior engineer Nitesh Rana and supervisors were present during the action, and the entire process was completed peacefully.
Statement by MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari: The MDDA’s objective is to develop Dehradun and surrounding areas in a planned manner. Illegal plotting and construction not only spoil the city’s appearance but also create serious future problems for citizens, such as lack of basic amenities, road, electricity, sewer, and water supply problems. Therefore, the authority will have zero tolerance for any unauthorized development. We have given clear instructions that whether the matter is small or large, illegal activities must be sealed and demolished immediately. This campaign will continue and will be carried out with complete transparency.
MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya stated, “The MDDA team is continuously monitoring the situation on the ground. Wherever illegal plotting or construction is found, strict action is taken on the spot. Our goal is to ensure orderly, lawful, and safe development in the area, and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard.”
