The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) today launched a major crackdown against illegal construction and illegal plotting, carrying out demolition and sealing operations at several locations within the authority’s jurisdiction. In order to curb the ever-increasing unauthorized construction, the MDDA team was on the ground since morning, identifying and taking action against constructions being carried out without approved maps.
The largest action was taken in the Jassowal, Chakrata Road area, where Roshan Negi was illegally plotting approximately 22 bighas of land. The MDDA team arrived on the scene and demolished the entire plotting system. The authority clarified that illegal plotting, developing illegal colonies, and erecting structures without permission will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Senior Engineers Manish Notiyal, Pritam Chauhan, a team of supervisors, and police were present during the action.
MDDA Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari stated that it is the authority’s responsibility to ensure planned development of the city. “Strict action will continue against those involved in illegal construction and unauthorized plotting in the authority area. No one will be allowed to break the law and create unauthorised settlements,” Tiwari said.
MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya said today’s action is part of the authority’s zero-tolerance policy. “Those who are plotting without permission and building without proper permission are warned to stop such activities immediately, or strict action will be taken,” he said. This campaign by the MDDA will continue.
