Patna: Voting for the first phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections is underway. Voting is taking place today (November 6) for 121 assembly seats across 18 districts. Of these seats, 102 are general category and 19 are reserved for Scheduled Castes. The first phase is witnessing a close contest between the major alliances. The NDA is contesting 121 seats, the Grand Alliance 126, and the Jan Suraj 119. Ahead of the first phase, Prime Minister Modi has appealed to the people of Bihar to vote.

Seat Allocation of Parties in Bihar: In terms of party and seat alignment, the NDA is contesting 48 seats, JDU 57, LJP (Ram Vilas) 14, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha 2. Meanwhile, the Grand Alliance comprises RJD 73 seats, Congress 24, CPI (ML) 14, VIP 5, CPI 3, and CPI (M) is contesting on 5 seats and IIP on 3 seats.
Over 3.75 crore voters in the first phase: A total of 37.5 million voters will decide the candidates in this phase. This includes 19.835 million male voters and 17.67 million female voters. Additionally, 758 third gender voters and 737,765 first-time young voters (aged 18 to 19) will also exercise their franchise.
Today’s voting will decide the fate of many prominent figures: The fate of prominent figures will be decided in today’s voting, including the Grand Alliance’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav, both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with several ministers, superstar Khesari Lal Yadav, and folk singer Maithili Thakur.
