Kalpetta: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Kerala on Thursday, which is also her constituency. During her two-day visit, the Congress leader will attend several public events in Wayanad and Malappuram districts.
Last year, the Congress leader filed her nomination papers following the resignation of her brother and former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi decided to retain the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat. Priyanka Gandhi won a decisive victory in the Wayanad by-election in November 2024, securing over four lakh votes.
Since becoming the MP from Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi has been visiting Malappuram and Kozhikode districts, in addition to Wayanad. During her recent 10-day visit earlier this month, the Congress leader visited various parts of the constituency and interacted with local residents, farmers, sports personalities, students, and representatives from various sectors.
Party leaders said the upcoming visit is the next phase of the same outreach campaign. Sulthan Bathery MLA and senior Congress leader IC Balakrishnan said that Priyanka Gandhi’s visit is an extension of her previous visit.
He explained that Priyanka Gandhi will visit several parts of Wayanad and Malappuram. During her visit, Priyanka will unveil a statue of Mahatma Gandhi and attend public functions in Kalpetta and surrounding areas. Party sources said her program includes meetings with local community groups, self-help women’s groups, and youth representatives.
This visit is expected to further strengthen her connection with voters as she continues to consolidate her role as an active MP. Priyanka Gandhi, who took over as Wayanad MP last year, has made repeated visits to assess constituency issues such as infrastructure gaps, agricultural challenges, and environmental concerns affecting the hilly district.
Her two-day visit is expected to conclude on Friday evening. Recently, Priyanka Gandhi criticized the central government for not waiving loans for Wayanad landslide victims.
