The 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India and a symbol of national unity, will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and pride in the district. To mark this special occasion, a massive “Unity Walk” of approximately 8 km and grand events will be organized from the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Clock Tower to the Martyr’s Memorial, Chid Bagh, at the Dehradun district headquarters on October 31, 2025, at 7:30 am.
Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah held a meeting with all line departments in the Vikas Bhawan auditorium on Wednesday to prepare for the Iron Man’s 150th birth anniversary. He directed that maximum public participation be ensured. Invitations should be sent to public representatives and dignitaries today. The Chief Development Officer stated that anyone can voluntarily participate in the Unity Walk, which will be held from the Clock Tower at the district headquarters to the Martyr’s Memorial on October 31 at 7:30 am. He directed educational institutions, NSS, NCC, PRD volunteers, athletes, ex-servicemen, Anganwadi workers, NULM, and self-help groups associated with various departmental schemes to participate in the program.
The Chief Development Officer directed the CMO to deploy an ambulance with life-saving medicines during the Ekta Padyatra, the District Supply Officer to provide light refreshments, the General Manager, District Industries to provide a sufficient number of tricolor flags, the Chief Health Officer to provide flowers and garlands, the Transport Officer to arrange vehicles, the CEO to organize a self-reliant India and drug-free youth pledge in schools and colleges, debates on the life of the Iron Man, and an essay competition, and the Superintendent of Traffic to ensure smooth traffic flow on the designated route of the Dehradun Ekta Padyatra.
Deputy Director, My Bharat, Monica Nandal, stated that on the occasion of the Iron Man’s birth anniversary, an 8- to 10-kilometer Ekta March/Padyatra will be organized at three locations in each district. The first Ekta Padyatra will be held on October 31st at the Dehradun district headquarters. After this, similar grand programs will be organized in Vikas Nagar and Doiwala till 25th November.
