Jammu: The Vande Bharat Express stopped at Reasi Railway Station for the first time, sparking joy among locals. Train No. 26401-26402 Srinagar-Katra Vande Bharat Express’s stop in Reasi marks a new chapter.
Until now, the Vande Bharat Express had only one stop at Banihal, apart from Katra and Srinagar. Starting Wednesday, the train will also stop for two minutes in Reasi.
The Jammu Division of Northern Railway organized a ceremony at Reasi Railway Station to mark the occasion. On this occasion, Member of Legislative Assembly Kuldeep Raj Dubey, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Senior DCM) Uchit Singhal, and others welcomed the train and flagged it off for its onward journey. Giving details, Uchit Singhal said that in a significant achievement for the people of Reasi district, the Srinagar-Katra Vande Bharat Express stopped at Reasi Railway Station for the first time on Wednesday, marking a new chapter in rail connectivity in the Valley.
The train will depart from Katra Railway Station at 8:10 am and arrive at Reasi Railway Station at 8:28 am. It will then continue its journey towards Srinagar. Similarly, Train No. 26402 will return to Reasi Railway Station at 16:34 pm.
Previously, the Vande Bharat Express had only one stop at Banihal between Katra and Srinagar. Singhal said, “The introduction of the stop at Reasi is a direct result of persistent public demand and aims to enhance travel convenience for passengers from Reasi and surrounding areas.”
The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6, 2025, marked a milestone in the history of Indian Railways. It became the first rail service to connect the Kashmir Valley with the Jammu region via the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge.
Reasi residents and tourists visiting the Chenab Railway Bridge and other areas surrounding Reasi city will be able to avail of this service, making their journey to Srinagar easier.
