Darbhanga: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who arrived to campaign for the NDA in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, addressed a public meeting. He sharply attacked the RJD and Congress, saying that Lalu Prasad Yadav wants his son to be the Chief Minister, while Sonia Gandhi wants Rahul Gandhi to be the Prime Minister. During this, the Defense Minister’s tongue slipped.
Shah also targeted Lalu Yadav: Union Minister Amit Shah fiercely targeted the Lalu family along with opposition parties in Darbhanga. He said, “We gave a ticket to 25-year-old Maithili Thakur, who has no political background. Could such a thing ever happen in the RJD or Congress?” Laluji wants his son to be the Chief Minister, and Soniaji wants Rahul Gandhi to be the Prime Minister.โ Emphasizing the BJP’s youth policy, he said that PM Modi has promised to give one lakh youth tickets for Panch, Sarpanch, Tehsil Panchayat, District Panchayat, MLA, and MP seats, allowing them to contest elections for the first time. Honoring Mithila’s Culture and Art: The Home Minister listed the Modi government’s achievements in honoring Mithila’s cultural heritage. He said, “Modiji honored Mithila and the land of Bihar by awarding the Bharat Ratna to Karpoori Thakur. The culture and art of the entire Mithila region were honored by awarding the Padma Vibhushan to the late Swar Kokila Sharda Sinha.”
He further said, “Maithili language was included in the Eighth Schedule, Madhubani painting was given a GI tag, and the Makhana Board was established. A grand Sita Mata temple is going to be built here.” Ram Lalla was living in a tent for 550 years, and we built a grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s slip of tongue: Amit Shah, while targeting opposition parties, was trying to convey that the Congress and its allies were against the Ram Temple and were opposing the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. When he began naming these parties, he first mentioned his ally, the JDU.
“Brothers and sisters, Ram Lalla was living in a tent in Ayodhya for 550 years. From 550 years to today, none of these partiesโJDU, Congress, Mamata, BSP, SPโallowed the construction of the Ram Temple. You elected Gopal ji in 2019, Modi ji became Prime Minister, and the Ram Lalla Temple was built in Ayodhya with great fanfare.”
PFI Banned, Surgical Strike on Terrorism: Speaking on national security, Shah said that the PFI was formed during the Congress governments, but no action was taken. “Modi banned the PFI in a single night, raided over 100 locations, and sent the entire group to jail. I promise that no PFI member will be released from jail while a single BJP MP is in office.”
Referring to the abolition of Article 370, he said, “Congress, Lalu Prasad Yadav and company protected Article 370 for 70 years. PM Modi abolished it forever on August 5, 2019.” Referring to three counter-terrorism operations, he said, “Once, we carried out a surgical strike, secondly, an air strike, and thirdly, we entered Pakistan’s house and cleaned it up.”
A flurry of poor welfare schemes: Highlighting the Modi government’s welfare schemes, Shah said, “Free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, housing for every poor person, Rs 6,000 annually for farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, and 85.2 million poor people in Bihar are receiving 5 kg of free food grains.”
Praising the Bihar government, he said, “Deposited 10,000 rupees into the accounts of over 10 million Jeevika Didis. Electricity bills up to 125 units were waived, and widow pensions were increased from 400 to 1,100 rupees. The Nitish Kumar government has done many things for Bihar’s development.”
