The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Dehradun Branch Office, successfully organized the “Standards Manthan” program today at Hotel Regenta, Dehradun. The objective of the program was to discuss the revision and improvement of the Indian Standard IS 2925 for Industrial Safety Helmets with industry, consumers, and regulatory bodies.
The chief guest of the program was Mr. Anil Petwal, Additional Commissioner, Labor Department.
Present as special guests were Mr. Pankaj Gupta, President, Industrial Association of Uttarakhand (IAU), and Mr. Rajiv Vaid, Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).
Chief Guest Mr. Anil Petwal praised the efforts being made by the Bureau of Indian Standards in the field of standards development. He stated that standardization plays a vital role in ensuring safety in factories. Mr. Petwal urged all industries and consumers to use BIS-certified products to strengthen the culture of safety and quality in workplaces.
In his keynote address, Mr. Saurabh Tiwari, Director and Head, BIS Dehradun, highlighted the concept of “Manak Manthan,” improving the quality of industrial safety equipment, and the process of updating standards.
Mr. Sachin Chaudhary, Joint Director, BIS, gave a detailed presentation on the revised Indian Standard IS 2925, sharing information on key requirements and testing procedures such as Shock Absorption, Flame Resistance, and Resistance to Penetration.
More than 60 participants, including industry representatives, consumer organizations, technical experts, and representatives from testing laboratories, attended the event.
Engineering students from Uttaranchal University and Graphic Era University also actively participated.
Experts and industry representatives present suggested that the Indian standards for industrial safety helmets be made more practical, useful, and internationally competitive, in line with the actual needs of the industry.
