The district administration has formulated a strategy to realize the commitment of a drug-free Devbhoomi. A meeting of the district-level Narcotics Coordination Committee was held on Thursday in the Rishiparna Auditorium, chaired by District Magistrate Savin Bansal. Instructions were given to coordinate departments and take effective action to curb the illegal drug trade. The DM stated that there is no place for drug traffickers in the capital. He directed officials to regularly inspect operating pharmaceutical factories and medical stores and conduct intensive investigations to prevent drug trafficking. CTVs should be installed in all medical stores. He directed the CMO to purchase adequate drug testing kits and conduct drug testing in all government and non-government colleges, universities, and higher educational institutions through a special task force. For this, the DM approved funds on the spot for the health department. Recently, the district administration also purchased 6,000 testing kits. The DM said that anti-drug activities should be reviewed regularly every month. Efforts have also been initiated to establish a public helpline number and a dedicated cell at the district level. Other instructions were given, including activating the Anti-Drugs Committee. The Social Welfare Officer was instructed to immediately operate the Raiwala Old Age Home as a drug de-addiction and mental health center. Officials were also directed to conduct on-site inspections of all drug de-addiction centers and obtain reports on their activities from local Patwaris and police officers. Other instructions included installing CCTV cameras around schools and identifying potential drug-related areas, and activating the Anti-Drugs Committee in all private and government educational institutions. Instructions were given to all enforcement agencies, including the ANTF, STF, police, NCB, and Drug Controller, to work together to take effective action to break the demand and supply chain of drugs.
