The district administration has formulated an effective strategy to realize the Chief Minister’s vision of a “drug-free Devbhoomi.” District Magistrate Savin Bansal chaired a meeting of the District-level Narcotics Coordination Committee in the Rishiparna Auditorium on Thursday. Departments were directed to coordinate and take effective action to curb the illegal drug trade. The District Magistrate clearly stated that there is no place for drug traffickers in the capital.
The District Magistrate directed that drug factories and medical stores operating in the district be regularly inspected and thoroughly checked to prevent drug trafficking. CCTV cameras should be installed in all medical stores. The District Magistrate directed the CMO to purchase a sufficient number of drug testing kits and, through a special task force, conduct large-scale drug testing in all government and non-government colleges, universities, and higher educational institutions. The District Magistrate approved funds for this purpose on the spot to the Health Department. The DM also directed that drug activity should be reviewed regularly every month. At the District Magistrate’s initiative, efforts have been initiated to establish a public helpline number and a dedicated cell at the district level. The District Magistrate has also directed the anti-drug committees formed in schools to be directly linked to the Special Task Force (STF) to facilitate prompt communication regarding anti-drug activities.
The District Magistrate directed the Social Welfare Officer to immediately operate the Raiwala Old Age Home as a drug de-addiction and mental health center. He also directed officials to conduct on-site inspections of all drug de-addiction centers and obtain reports on the activities from local Patwaris and police officers. The District Magistrate also directed the installation of CCTV cameras around schools and in areas potentially affected by drug abuse, activate anti-drug committees in all private and government educational institutions, and provide a list of committee names. Widely publicize the Manas helpline number 1933 and the NCV Manas portal through banners and posters in educational institutions and public places to report illegal drug trafficking, and take immediate action on complaints received on the helpline. To eradicate the illegal drug trade from its roots.
The District Magistrate directed all enforcement agencies, including the ANTF, STF, police, NCB, and the Drug Controller, to work together to implement effective action to break the demand and supply chain of drugs. The District Magistrate said that by analyzing past years, the networks and linkages involved in the drug trade should be identified. Drug testing should also be conducted during traffic checks on the roads. A large-scale awareness programs should be conducted to prevent the use of drugs and to prevent their harmful effects. ASHA workers, Sevikas, and Sahayikas should be used to educate citizens in every village about the importance of avoiding drug abuse. Every citizen should be aware of the Manas helpline number and portal, so that anyone can easily report this illegal trade to the administration.
