National Deworming Day (October Phase) was inaugurated on Wednesday at Shri Guru Nanak Doon Well School, Race Course. The program was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma. He provided information about physical hygiene to the children and administered Albendazole to them.
Dr. Sharma interacted with the children on this occasion. He stated that maintaining good physical hygiene is essential for a healthy life. A healthy body will ensure a healthy mind. A healthy body and mind will lead to better academic performance and success. He also explained to the children how to maintain physical hygiene. Dr. Sharma advised the children to wash their hands with soap before eating and after defecation.
He also administered Albendazole, a deworming medicine, to the children on this occasion. The Chief Medical Officer appealed to all parents in the district to ensure their children receive Albendazole. Those children who could not take the medicine on October 8 due to some reason, will be given the medicine on the mop-up day on October 15, 2025.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nidhi Rawat informed that 676809 children between the age of 01 to 19 years are being given Albendazole medicine in the district. This medicine will be given in government/private schools as well as Anganwadi centers.
On this occasion, school Principal Harvinder Kaur Bajaj, Additional Chief Medical Officer NHM Dr. Nidhi Rawat along with the team of RBSK, RKSK IEC Cell were present.
