Kolkata: The West Bengal Assembly elections are almost a year away. However, there is a growing political uproar on various issues in the state. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be wary of his most trusted aide Amit Shah. Mamata Banerjee was speaking to reporters at the Kolkata airport after returning from North Bengal on Wednesday.
“Referring to the historical man who betrayed Bengal during the British rule, the chief minister said, “”I am sad to say this, but I would like to tell the Prime Minister – beware of Amit Shah.” Don’t depend on them for everything. He is the greatest Mir Zafar.” His statement caused a political uproar in both Delhi and Kolkata.
His remarks come in the backdrop of a recent directive by the Election Commission. The commission has ordered that all FIRs related to election complaints should be registered within 15 days. Criticizing the decision, Mamata Banerjee asked, “Is the Election Commission now working under the directions of the BJP? Is it working on Amit Shah’s orders? “””It seems that everything in Delhi is being run by Amit Shah.” He seems to be the acting Prime Minister of India.
Mamata also reacted strongly to the incident in Tripura, where BJP-backed hooligans had allegedly vandalised the Trinamool Congress office. “Annoyed by the disruption to his party’s delegation in Agartala, he said, “”Our team in Tripura was not even given a prepaid taxi.” I had to instruct them to walk. The BJP should look into its own house before pointing fingers at others. If necessary, I will go there myself and see who has the courage to stop me.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has blamed the BJP for the attack on BJP MP Khagen Murmu and party MLA Shankar Ghosh. “””That place (Nagrakata) is the stronghold of the BJP.” People are angry with the floods and communal incidents. He has not been there since he won the election. They suddenly went there that day. Is it my fault?
Heavy rains on the night of October 4 and 5 have caused flooding in a large area of North Bengal. There was a landslide. “Mamata Banerjee said, “”This disaster came from the water of Bhutan.” This time it has rained a lot all over the country. How many houses have collapsed in Uttarakhand? There have been landslides. I don’t do politics on natural disasters. The Prime Minister said on the first day that there were deaths due to the collapse of the bridge. This is not Gujarat. No one died due to the collapse of the bridge. We have started work on the new bridge. And the alternative bridge will be built in 15 days.
Criticizing the central government, Mamata said that not even a penny was given to West Bengal in the disaster. Mamata Banerjee said relief material was being delivered to landslide and flood-affected areas of North Bengal. About 400 relief bags have been prepared since last night. They were sent in the morning. These bags contain all the necessary items. There are also women’s sarees and sweaters. Distribution has already started in many places. “””Our goal is to reach the affected families as soon as possible and provide the necessary help,”” he said.”
