Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi today held a review meeting with URRDA officials in his camp office regarding the roads blocked due to rain under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). In the meeting, Minister Ganesh Joshi instructed the officials to open the roads blocked due to rain on a war footing on priority basis and to reconstruct the damaged and washed away bridges soon. He said that the debris coming out of road cutting should be dumped in the designated dumping zone so that the farmers’ crops are not harmed. He said that strict action will be taken against those who disobey. Officials informed in the meeting that the districts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh have suffered the most damage due to this rain. An assessment of about Rs 415 crore for roads and bridges under PMGSY in the state has been sent to the Government of India. At present, 90 roads in the state are blocked, for which 64 machines are working. URRDA Chief Executive Officer Abhishek Rohila, Chief Engineer Sanjay Kumar Pathak were present in the meeting.
