From 17th September, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to 2nd October, the birthday of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, the “Health Fortnight” will be organized in a grand and divine manner by the Uttarakhand government. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, this event is going to be a historic effort to increase the reach of health services and public awareness across the state.
Chief Minister Dhami said that the government is committed to ensure that every citizen of the state has access to quality health services and people are aware of the prevention of diseases. He clarified that the government is taking concrete steps to strengthen the health sector and provide services to the last mile.
*Health Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar took charge from Haridwar*
The responsibility of Dharmanagari Haridwar has been handed over to Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar. He reached Haridwar on Tuesday, where a meeting was held in the Vikas Bhawan auditorium. MLA Roorkee Pradeep Batra, MLA Bhagwanpur Mamta Rakesh and many public representatives and senior officials were present in the meeting. While chairing the meeting, the Health Secretary said that the Health Fortnight is not just a government program, but an effort to become a bridge between society and governance. He directed that specialist camps should be organized in district hospitals, community health centers, primary health centers, private medical and nursing colleges. These camps will provide examination and treatment for heart disease, diabetes, gynecology, pediatrics and other serious diseases. Also, blood donation camps will be organized. He gave strict instructions to the officials to prepare a roster in every district and include public representatives, village heads and panchayat representatives in it. This will give wide public participation to the health camps.
*Special emphasis on Nishchay Mitra Yojana*
In the meeting, Dr. Kumar said that the goal is to get the state the first place in the country in the Nishchay Mitra Yojana. For this, all public representatives and district level officers should adopt patients suffering from tuberculosis. This will not only provide nutrition and support to the patients, but will also send a positive message in the society.
*Message of transparency and strictness*
The Health Secretary clarified that negligence and laxity will not be tolerated at any level in health services. He instructed to tighten the monitoring of ultrasound centers and take strict action against those violating the PCPNDT Act. He also talked about keeping an eye on quack doctors and running a campaign against them.
On his arrival in the district, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit and Chief Development Officer Akanksha Konde welcomed the Health Secretary by presenting a flower bouquet. He assured that to make the health fortnight successful with public participation, the district administration will do extensive publicity in collaboration with the health department, so that the benefits of health services can reach every home. In the meeting, the action plan prepared by the Health Department was presented through PPT. Chief Medical Officer Dr. R.K. Singh, Project Director K.N. Tiwari, District Panchayat Raj Officer Atul Pratap Singh, District Basic Education Officer Ashutosh Bhandari, Dr. Komal and officials of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
