New Delhi: Indian Railways is all set to launch the country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express train. This train has been designed for more comfortable travel. This train will reportedly cover the journey between Delhi and Patna via Prayagraj in a total of eleven and a half hours just before Diwali 2025.
According to a CNBC report, this train will probably leave Patna at 8 pm and reach New Delhi at 7.30 am the next day, reducing the normal travel time between the two cities, which is 12 to 17 hours, to just eleven and a half hours.
Estimated ticket price of Vande Bharat Sleeper Express
According to the report, the service is expected to start before Diwali 2025. The fare of this train is estimated to be 10-15 percent higher than the Rajdhani Express. The new sleeper model of Vande Bharat Express will run at a maximum speed of 180 kmph and will have berths in place of the usual chair car-service, making the journey more comfortable, especially at night.
Modern fire safety system
Equipped with features like CCTV cameras, LED screens for entertainment, automatic doors with sensors for safe boarding, modern fire safety system and announcement facilities in the train, Vande Bharat Sleeper has been manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) using advanced Integral Coach Factory (ICF) technology.
Aircraft-style finishing
Apart from this, the interiors of the train have been designed with aircraft-style finishing, giving passengers a great travel experience. The report further said that with the introduction of the sleeper version, the government aims to expand the reach of this service, especially on long-distance routes where overnight travel is common.
The travel route of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express, i.e. New Delhi to Patna, is one of the busiest routes in the country and is heavily crowded especially during the festive season when thousands of people visit the national capital from the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is expected to reduce congestion, provide faster travel options to passengers and increase connectivity for both Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
