On Monday, members of the inter-ministerial team of the Central Government conducted a field inspection of the disaster-affected area Tharali. They also conducted an aerial survey of the disaster-affected areas of Chamoli district, Chepdo, Nanda Nagar, Karnaprayag and Joshimath. After this, the team members assessed the damage caused by the disaster at the Government Polytechnic College Kulsari.
District Officer Chamoli Sandeep Tiwari presented a detailed report of the heavy rainfall and disaster in Chamoli district to the team members through a power point presentation. He presented a report about the damage caused in Tharali, Chepdo and Nandanagar and the damage to government assets.
He said that the disaster has caused damage worth more than Rs 115 crore in Chamoli district. He also presented details of the loss of assets of different departments. He said that the roads of the Public Works Department and PMGSY have suffered the most damage. However, there has not been much loss of life in the disaster in Tharali. One young woman has died and one person is missing. But many families have lost their homes. Also, due to the damage of more than 50 shops, people are facing livelihood problems
