Srinagar: After starting Vande Bharat train service between Katra and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu Division of Northern Railway is going to run a local train between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station Katra in Reasi district and Sangaldan Railway Station in Ramban district. This local train will pass through the historic Chenab Arch Railway Bridge and Anji Khan Cable Bridge.
In this regard, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (SDCM) of Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal said, “To help the passengers stranded due to continuous rains and flash floods and damaged roads in Reasi and Ramban district, the Railways has planned two local passenger train services connecting SVDK Katra station to Sangaldan station and back via Reasi, Bakkal and Dugga stations for the next 5 days from September 8 to September 12.”
He further said, “This service will provide immediate relief to the stranded passengers and help in restoring vital connectivity and will definitely act as a lifeline till the road connectivity is restored.”
When will the train run?
The train service has been started due to the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway being blocked at Tharar near Udhampur for the last five days. The train will leave from Katra at 8:40 am and reach Sangaldan at 10 am. It will leave from Sangaldan at 2:15 pm and reach Katra at 3:45 pm.
People stranded due to rain
Let us tell you that due to heavy rains and landslides in many districts of Jammu and Kashmir, traffic on many highways and major roads has been disrupted. Due to this, a large number of people are stranded. A large number of people have been affected by floods in Reasi, Ramban and Anantnag districts.
