Deoghar: For taking the education system to new heights, Shweta Sharma, a teacher from Deoghar, has brought pride to the whole of Jharkhand by receiving the National Teacher Award 2025. On 5 September 2025, President Draupadi Murmu conferred this prestigious honor on her at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.
It is a proud moment to receive the National Teacher Award
45 teachers from across the country were selected for the National Teacher Award 2025, including Shweta Sharma, the only one from Jharkhand. Under this award, she was awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a silver medal and a citation. In the selection process, Shweta effectively presented her teaching style and innovations to the jury in a seven-minute presentation. The jury especially appreciated her play-based teaching in primary classes and her ability to train other teachers.
Shweta’s message for teachers
Shweta emphasizes on teachers to be honest and dedicated to their profession. She says that education is not just bookish knowledge, but a medium to prepare children for life.
Shweta Sharma is a symbol of innovation and dedication
Shweta Sharma, working in Vivekanand Government Middle School of Devghar, not only won the hearts of children with her unique teaching style, but also made a name for herself at the national level. Active in the field of education for 21 years, Shweta established a new dimension of teaching children in a playful way through her creative method ‘Abua Jadui Pitara’. This pitara includes Sohrai painting, traditional instruments, and elements related to local culture, which make studies interesting by connecting children to their roots.
Studies become entertainment for children
Shweta’s student Riya Kumari says, “One does not even realize the time in Madam’s class. She teaches us through songs, dances and stories, due to which studies do not seem like a burden, but fun.” At the same time, student Suraj Mahato says, “Shweta Madam teaches us by connecting us more to real life than books. Because of her, we feel like coming to school.” Shweta’s specialty is that she makes education entertaining while keeping children away from boredom.
Initiative of the District Education Department
Deoghar’s District Education Officer Vinod Kumar called Shweta’s achievement a matter of pride for the whole of Jharkhand. He said, “Soon a special training program will be organized to make Shweta’s teaching techniques reach other teachers of the district.” This step will help in improving the level of education.
