977 meritorious students from 207 PM-SHRI schools in the state will be sent on an inter-state educational tour. Under this educational tour program, students will visit scientific research centers, space research centers, sports training institutes, technology institutes, cultural and heritage sites, and music and art academies. The state government has sanctioned Rs. 3.06 crore for the educational tour. The educational tour program will be organized between January 15 and January 20, 2026. Instructions have been given to the Chief Education Officers of all districts to ensure the necessary preparations.
Officials of the School Education Department said that the state government organizes tours to various states for students every year to promote their intellectual, educational, and overall development. As part of this initiative, a total of 1048 participants from 207 PM-SHRI secondary/senior secondary schools across the state will be sent on an inter-state educational tour under the State Samagra Shiksha program. This includes 977 students, 13 nodal officers, and 58 teachers as escorts. The participating students include 104 from Almora district, 36 from Bageshwar, 96 from Chamoli, 56 from Champawat, 66 from Dehradun, 76 from Haridwar, 104 from Nainital, 51 from Pauri, 81 from Pithoragarh, 31 from Rudraprayag, 71 from Tehri, 144 from Udham Singh Nagar, and 61 from Uttarkashi. Two male and two female teachers from each district will be included as escorts in the tour group. In districts where the number of participating students is more than 100, three male and three female teachers will be nominated as escorts.
Departmental officials said that two boys and two girls will be selected from each PM-SHRI school for the inter-state tour. Students studying in classes 9 and 11 who secured the highest marks in the 2024-25 annual examinations are eligible to participate. It was announced that four students each from co-educational schools and separate boys’ and girls’ schools will participate. Students who have previously participated in the India tour program will not be included. Departmental officials informed that the inter-state tour program will be held between January 15th and January 20th. Under this program, participating students will undertake educational visits to various states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Goa, visiting places such as the National Science Centre, IITs, space research centers, sports training institutes, cultural and heritage sites, and art academies. The tour group will be flagged off at the district level by the local Member of Parliament, Member of the Legislative Assembly, and the District Magistrate.
Education department officials stated that a total of โน3.06 crore has been sanctioned district-wise for the implementation of the educational tour program. Instructions have been issued to the Chief Education Officers of all districts regarding the tour program. Accordingly, all CEOs have been asked to nominate a senior principal from a PM-SHRI school in their respective districts as the nodal officer. They have also been instructed to ensure all necessary preparations for the tour. Furthermore, they have been asked to ensure that the educational tour is properly photographed and videographed, and the report, along with the photographs and videos, is submitted to the State Project Office.
