Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray has accused the Election Commission of registering fake voters in Maharashtra. Thackeray said the Election Commission has registered 96 lakh fake voters in Maharashtra.
He alleged that a total of eight to eight and a half lakh voters have infiltrated in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Thane. Raj Thackeray said that these fake voters are infiltrating every city and gram sabha. On Sunday, the functionaries of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena were speaking at a meeting held at the Nesco ground in Mumbai.
“””Glitch in voter rolls is not a new thing – it has been going on for years,”” Thackeray said.” I had raised this issue related to voting machines and electoral rolls in 2016-17. When officials started knocking on people’s doors, it became clear what kind of electoral arrangement was going on.
‘Insulting democracy’
“””If the results are decided in advance, then why should candidates contest elections or why should people vote?” This is an insult to voters and democracy. If the electoral roll is tampered with, the results are decided in advance. He described it as a dangerous conspiracy against the democratic system.
Why are the people sitting in power getting angry?
“I am asking the Election Commission to correct these lists.” I don’t understand why those in power are getting angry—maybe because they’re involved. When we question the commission, the ruling party responds. Who asked them? They are angry because they are taking advantage of this corrupt system.
Thackeray accused the ruling party of being in a hurry to hold elections as they are fully prepared to win the elections with the help of fake voters.
