Under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, not only the health of the common people is being examined in the health camps organized across the state but pregnant women are also being given pre-natal health related advice. Under the campaign, till now ANC (Antenatal Care) check-up of more than 80 thousand pregnant women has been done, in which the health of the fetus and the mother has been assessed. Health department officials informed that under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, pre-natal check-up of 80,515 pregnant women was done in the health camps being organized across the state. This includes 2195 pregnant women in Almora district, 1131 in Bageshwar, 2285 in Chamoli, 1758 in Champawat, 15728 in Dehradun, 14472 in Haridwar, 7853 in Nainital, 2375 in Pauri, 2067 in Pithoragarh, 1936 in Rudraprayag, 4650 in Tehri, 21509 in Udham Singh Nagar, and 2556 in Uttarkashi. These women were tested for hypertension, weight, physical examination, diabetes, HIV, and urine, among other things, at the health camps. Women with high-risk pregnancies were identified and advised to seek necessary medical advice and sonography. Additional counseling was especially provided to women whose first delivery was by caesarean section, who had previously experienced a miscarriage or stillbirth, who were low in weight and height, who conceived at a young age, who suffered from severe anemia, high blood pressure, diabetes, or any other serious illness. During this period, doctors emphasized the importance of a balanced diet, regular medication, and the consumption of green vegetables, milk, soybeans, fruits, chickpeas, and jaggery. Iron and folic acid tablets were also distributed to anemic women. Departmental officials stated that the state government is committed to reducing maternal mortality in the state. To this end, the Health Department, through ANMs, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers, is continuously encouraging pregnant women to have institutional deliveries.
