Sugarcane procurement centers have been allocated to sugar mills across the state. 494 centers have been allocated for the 2025-26 crushing season. Sugar mills have also been ordered to pay farmers for their sugarcane on time.
According to an order issued by Commissioner of Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry, Trilok Singh Martolia, four cooperative, public, and private sector sugar mills in Udham Singh Nagar district have been allocated 126 sugarcane procurement centers. Except for Iqbalpur, a private sugar mill in Haridwar, two private sugar mills have been allocated 311 sugarcane procurement centers. Doiwala, a public sector sugar mill in Dehradun, has been allocated 57 sugarcane procurement centers.
The Iqbalpur case will be considered after farmers are paid.
According to the Sugarcane Commissioner, the Iqbalpur Sugar Mill has not paid farmers for the 2024-25 crushing season. The allocation of a sugarcane procurement center to the sugar mill will only be considered after the full payment of the sugarcane price.
Short-weighing will not be tolerated
According to Sugarcane Commissioner Trilok Singh Martolia, weighment clerks will be deployed at sugarcane procurement centers as per regulations. Departmental officials have also been instructed to regularly inspect the procurement centers. Short-weighing will not be tolerated at sugarcane procurement centers. Legal action will be taken against those found guilty of irregularities in weighing.
