Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today released the 21st installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in advance from New Delhi, providing relief to farmer families in the states of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab. Under this scheme, more than ₹540 crore was transferred directly to the bank accounts of over 2.7 million farmers across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Farmers in Uttarakhand have also benefited from this scheme. An amount of ₹157.86 crore was transferred to the accounts of 789,297 eligible farmers in the state. To date, farmers in the state have received a total of ₹3,295.74 crore in assistance from the previous 20 installments of the PM-Kisan Yojana.
State Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi participated virtually in this program held from the Secretariat. On this occasion, he also requested Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for additional assistance of ₹100 crore to compensate for the extensive damage to the agriculture and horticulture sectors in Uttarakhand due to natural calamities. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave a positive response, stating that the Uttarakhand government should submit its proposal soon, and the Government of India will recommend it on priority.
Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. He stated that the central and state governments are continuously working for the welfare of farmers. He said that upon becoming Prime Minister for the third time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed the Kisan Samman Nidhi in his first Union Cabinet meeting. This symbolizes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concern for farmers. He stated that the central and state governments are committed to the prosperity of farmers, and the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme is proving to be an important initiative for farmers.
On this occasion, Secretary Agriculture SN Pandey, Director General of Agriculture Ranveer Singh Chauhan, Director Deepti Singh, Director Agriculture Parmaram, Horticulture Mission Director Mahendra Pal and other officials were present.
