Uttarkashi: Due to continuous rain in Uttarkashi district, about 130 meters of Yamunotri highway collapsed near Jangalchatti, due to which three villages including Dham have lost contact with tehsil headquarters. At the same time, due to the closure of the highway, there is a long queue of vehicles on both sides. NH workers are busy opening the highway.
On Monday morning, about 130 meters of Yamunotri highway collapsed near Jangalchatti. Due to this, the connection of Yamunotri Dham including Banas, Kharsali, Narayanpuri, Janakichatti, Phoolchatti with the tehsil premises has been cut off. Boulders are continuously falling from the hill near Jangalchatti. Villagers said that due to rain, Yamunotri highway has been damaged at many places.
People demanded NH to open Yamunotri highway soon. At the same time, NH EE Manoj Rawat said that boulders are continuously falling due to rain. Due to this, machine operators are facing difficulty in opening the highway. Efforts are being made to open the highway as per the opportunity.
